Engen. I am definitely not no1!

Cars & Transport

In 2011 I cashed in a chunk of my retirement savings and bought a new diesel Toyota hilux.
Since new I have only ever used Engen fuel in it as I receive E-bucks fuel rewards.
In October we went on a long anticipated "Round SA' road trip.
All was well until we filled up at the shambolic Engen Bosveld Motors Lephalale (Ellisras) Limpopo.
After dispensing R20.16 of 'Fuel' the pump ran dry so I moved to another pump to complete the fill up.
About 50kms out the vehicle's 'Water in Fuel' warning light came on.
After a while the vehicle started misfiring and I managed to limp into Musina at 40kmh.
Fortunately there was a very jacked up Toyota agency there who helped. The service manage showed me the fuel tank and he reckoned there was 1 to 2 litres of water in it.
They had to remove the tank, strip all the fuel lines, replace filters and throw away about 25 litres of contaminated fuel.
Engen and Bosveld Motors have denied any liability and it has taken me 5 months of one-way communication for them to finally deny my modest claim of R1238.26 which is the cost of the repair job only.
I have been ignored, disbelieved and treated unfairly and my claim denied. I feel anything but Number 1!!
