Taxi marshalls and taxi drivers
Infringement of my democratic right by local taxi marshalls and taxi drivers

I firmly believe we are a democratic country where everyone is entitled to practice their democratic right. I was hiking from East London to KWT on Sunday morning, displaying my board indicating my destination, when a combi with approximately 10 taxi drivers/ marshalls pulled up and told me they dont allow anybody to hike and that i should board their taxi, i suggested if thats the case that i would return home, then the guy who confronted me, litterelly picked me up and forced me into their combi and took me to their taxi rank. I refused to make us of their taxi and proceeded to Fleetstreet Police Station. I spoke to a certain warrant officer that was on duty and wanted to lay a formal complaint of hijacking and infringement of my democratic right to make us of any form of public or private transport of my choice. I questioned the Police officer if the have the right by law to prohibit me from hiking. The officer replied that the taxi drivers has they right as they were complaining that people that transport hitchhikers are taking their business. I questioned him if that was allowed by law, i told him that he was avoiding to complete a charge by making excuses for the taxi operators. He referred me to another office where the gentleman on duty reckoned that the taxi operators do as they please and that he does not know where or to whom to refer me to. My question is this, are taxi associations at liberty to prescribe to the public what form of transport to use, is everybody compelled to use a taxi of whatever association, what happened to my democratic right to do as i please as long as it inks in within the confinements of the law. I am appealing to you as the Daily Dispatch to speak up for all the victims of taxi marshalls and taxi drivers harressments, this is blatant violation of the democratic right of the man in the street especially commuters . thanks Anonymous
