I had hired a vehicle for 25 Dec 2012 to 4 January 2013. I was due to pick up the vehicle for when my girlfriend arrived from overseas. She informed me that she had to take another flight because hers was cancelled. She would arrive earlier in the morning instead of mid day. I contacted First Car Hire to ask if I could collect the car earlier. They said it was ok. They did not advise me of any additional charges.

I collected the car and the company charged R2000 to my girlfriend's card as a deposit. We returned the car an hour earlier then the contract had stipulated and with a full tank of fuel on 4 January 2013.

The refund for the deposit was made with over R500 short!

I have since learnt that they have decided to charge me for an extra day's rent because I picked up the car earlier and charged me for a full tank of fuel!!! A complaint was raised and they have ruled that they are right without giving me a chance express my dissatisfaction with their service.

This is unacceptable.

How can I chase this up? Who can I report them to? All I want is my full deposit returned!
