Failiure to accept return i.e consumer act

I went to woolworths Cavendish Square to return an unwanted gift. I went to there customer service where they called Faghmie the Prestige Consultant who said he was the Manager of the counter. I explained that I did not want the item anymore, and I did not receive the free gift cause I was in a rush and told him that the consultant at the other branch is holding the gift till I could make it to that particular store. He then said he cant take the word of the other consultant and I have to go to that store and sort it out because he is not going to return it because he would not be able to sell. I then suggested that he could ask there rep to bring the gift to the store. He said that it is not possible and still refused to return the item.
