When booking a flight on SAA through the VOYAGER section there is only the option to chose the passenger as an adult or child which is specified as 2 - 11 years old. There is NO option, anywhere on the VOYAGER booking to select that the passenger is travelling with an infant. After making an inquiry about baggage allowances for the pram I am told that the infant pays the same fare rate as the passenger which is R2000 for a 45 minute flight from Cape Town to George. This would be fine if you knew in advance, made it clear on the website and gave you the option to select infant as a passenger, but none of this happens until the day before you fly and now you have no choice but to pay exorbitant fees. Surely the consumer protection act protects consumers from service providers blatantly deceiving their customers?
