No intention to deliver a service

I have been attempting to change a flight date since yesterday morning. Have spoken to now 9 different call center agents, they either put me on hold until I have to hang up & phone back to repeat my request from the beginning, or make as if they are capturing a query which gets submitted to who knows where & advise me to phone back in no less than 3 hours & when I do, the new agent says there is no history of a request, or the request was received but has no response, or the response is a question that has no relation to the request. It is not helpful to keep an agents name because if you ask to speak to the last one who appeared to be helpful, they are not available or I get put on hold for an infinite period whilst they 'look' for them. There is also no mechanism for escalation. Am I therefore required to continue in this vein until there are no options but to leave the flight as originally booked? If that is the point, why then employ agents at all?
If at all possible, I would really appreciate if I could receive a call enabling me to change & confirm the flight without any further back & forth & empty promises.
