Recently I had to fly to Durban from Cape Town using Mango. As I booked in I asked the lady who was booking us in if I could take my Zippo on board to which she said no I had to put it in my luggage which I would get on the other side. I promptly put it in the bag which I checked in.

This Zippo was a gift for Christmas and it had my name engraved on it. As many smokers and ex-smokers would testify a zippo has immense value to them.. Even if I should stop smoking this Zippos would have had a special remembrance for me.

As i received my luggage in Durban the first thing I did was check for my Zippo, only to discover that it has been out of my bag. I immediately went to the counter for luggage and they opened a case regarding this. To date I haven't received any call for it and I have done all the calling. Also they said they will not reimburse me for the Zippo seeing as it is not covered by them and would only be covered if I had spent extra money on flight insurance.

I do not understand why I should pay more just because Mango employs to handle their luggage.

I am still waiting for a call and will advise no one to use Mango Airlines.
