Don't believe what vodacom says

I had a MyMeg 750 contract that ended on 8 March. I wanted to stop the contract but keep the number on prepaid. I contacted customer serves in February and they said no problem and even sent me documentation saying that the contract would be migrated to prepaid on 31 March.
Imagine my surprise when my bill shows the same contract amount billed for April.
After FIVE long calls to vodacom - customer service - cancellations - billing - customer service and back to cancellations - I am told the February documentation is incorrect and the cancellation was not loaded. Their consultant had made a mistake.
The sim card is in my ipad and it seems I used 100 Mb inadvertently - I did not expect there to be any data on the sim so I did not switch off data services - I must pay up anyway for the full month.
Never mind that this is vodacom's error, never mind that I have documentation to show that I had cancelled the contract.
It may be their error but it's for my account. That's not good service. I have been a vodacom customer for over ten years. I would be happy to pay for the 100Mb at prepaid rates but vodacom seems to think I should pay for their error.
