No Cell C data regardless of full signal

This weekend I went to nelspruit and bought a new data contract from Cell C. In nelspruit the connection was extremely good. When I got to Hatfield, the area of intended use, there has been absolutely no data connection regardless of having full signal.
When I couldn't connect I researched and there are hundreds of people having the exact same problem in this area. This is completely unacceptable especially from the company who says it has the most advanced network in the country. In Nelspruit they said I can switch between Cell C and vodacom at high data speeds. However only edge works on the vodacom network.
I do not want to sit with a useless data contract for the next 12 months is there a way for me to cancel this contract during the first week of use as the guy claimed I can in Nelspruit?
If Cell C is actually doing something and sorting out this problem i would like to stay on this contract as it is good value for money (if it works).

Please get back to me urgently as I want to cancel the contract this week.
