MTN NOT HELPFUL IN FACILITATING A SMOOTH PROCESS

Recently I had my missing cell phone blocked by MTN and was given a unique ITC number. A good Samaritan has phoned my phone and now I wish to unblock it. I waited the usual 15-20min for a call centre employee to come on line. But was told in order to unblock my phone, I must schlep to a police station, do an affidavit, get a certified copy of my ID and copy of purchase invoice.

1) When I originally had it blocked, it was simple and easy, done over the phone. No paper work so why now?
2) Only I have the unique ITC number which clearly confirms its not the phoning to unblock the phone
3) Why is MTN making it so difficult for us to get our phone up and running which will then generate funds to MTN. This is not a smooth process, this is not good customer service.

Please have someone call me as I cannot believe what I am hearing.
