Four month notice period for canceling contract

I've cancelled my contract on the 1st of November 2013 with virgin mobile

Today someone from virgin mobile phoned me to inform me that the last payment will go off on the 1st of February

That is a four month notice period, the contract stipulates clearly that you only have to give one month notice.

If you want massive frustration in your life, get a virgin mobile contract
They can't help you because they also don't know what they are doing
