My girlfriend (Sonja Stockenstrom) ported her cell number (083 796 6451) over to Cell C on 25 April 2012 near the end of her 24 month MTN contract (which expired on 16 May 2012) and emailed MTN (ref. 5075206) to cancel her contract on 4 April 2012. She received emailed confirmation from MTN on 12 April 2012 (ref. 5093903) that her contract would be cancelled on 16 May 2012. But her bank account was still being debited for the cancelled MTN contract. Eventually, an MTN shop assistant verified that the contract had been cancelled but that the billing department had not cancelled the debit order. He changed the account so that no more debit orders would go through from her bank account, but my girlfriend was still receiving her monthly MTN account which was reflecting an accumulative outstanding monthly balance. She again asked for cancellation on 5 November 2012 (ref USD# 1374053), but to date nothing has changed and she is still receiving her monthly MTN account. Can this debit order please be cancelled because this can negatively affect her credit rating.
This is extremely lousy service from MTN and they need to sort out their in-house customer service and billing system. Bad!!!
