Impossible to cancel 8ta contract

I started experiencing problems after I upgraded in Sept 2013. I suddenly had very poor network reception and couldn't send text messages (still can't send). After numerous complaints logged with call centre and technical department none of my issues were resolved - with no feedback from Telkom. On 14 November 2013 I requested to terminate my contract via email since I am not receiving the benefits I'm paying for. There was no feedback to acknowledge cancellation. As suspected, my contract was not cancelled after 1 month as promised. Nothing happened! I called and visited the Northgate store for more assistance. They said it would take until the end of the month (December). I just spoke the the store and they confirmed that my cancellation has not been activated for the end of December - tomorrow. I would like to know what a person has to do to get a contract cancelled? How is it possible for it to be this difficult? And I feel very strongly that my cancellation fee should be waived since the only reason I am cancelling is because I am not getting what I signed up for or what I've been paying for since September. Can somebody please tell me how to get Telkom out of my life?
