My SIM Card CANNOT be activated

I purchased a ZTE MF 253 3G modem with a prepaid 10G package online a week ago. Got delivered with no problems by I could not activate the 3G reception and contacted the call-centre who informed me that the SIM card has to be activated and it could only be done during office hours. I spoke to someone on Wednesday morning who promised me that the card will be activated within 24h. The next day nothing has changed and I spent about an hour on the lime with different people (Zama was the 3rd who could not activate the card and summarily cut me off, Martha was next and more helpfull but still: NOTHING RESOLVED!!)

Now what? Please do not tell me that the mighty Vodacom cannot solve the simple activation of a data simcard?

I bought my wife an iPad Mini and Vodacom Clearwater activated the SIM Card within seconds!!
