I sent my 100% working iPhone 4 to MTN high volume repair centre to get it network unlocked, as it only works with an MTN SIM card. I got the phone through an old MTN contract and now need to give it to my girl friend (who is with Vodacom) as her Samsung is not working. Because it is network locked I cannot do this. Speaking to the HVRC they want to replace the phone at a cost of R2337 as they do not repair iPhones. The phone is in perfect condition. I know for a fact this is not a case of needing a repair. The request has to be sent to apple for the unlock. Why can't you do this? Is it not against the law to Network lock phones? Please could you help me resolve this issue.
Kind regards
