Ripping off their existing clients

Last week I received an email stating that Telkom is upgrading their ADSL lines. I am currently on a 2mb line which was already upgraded to a 4mb line a few weeks ago.

I am currently paying R599 for the 2mb line. When I go onto Mweb's web page I see that the the 4mb package costs R449per month.

I contacted Mweb on Saturday morning 30 November 2013 to request them to upgrade my line to the 6mb line as well as the upgrade to Mweb package. I was told by the call centre staff member that they can only upgrade my package and in the email it also states that they are only doing the Mweb upgrade in the middle of January 2014. The supervisor (can't remember her name) told me that she will get them to upgrade me by latest Tuesday 3 December 2013. This is not done.

Now my main gripe is the new clients are paying R449 for the 4 mb line while I am paying R599 for the 2mb line. A drop of R150 per month. Now multiply that Rand value by the amount of clients they have for 2-3 months and look how much money Mweb has made out of their clients due to blatant dishonesty. You cannot tell me that this came as a last minute surprise to Mweb. They had to know about it a long time ago already.
