I cannot believe that a company such as Virgin cannot allow for the cancellation of a contract with an effective date. My contract expires on 4 Jan 2014 and I phoned today on 27 Nov 2013 to give notice to cancel. Sizwe informed me that If I give notice to cancel today I will be charged R280 because they will cancel it early and they will not cancel it on 4 January as I requested. If I don't want to pay the charge or cancel early I must phone on 4 December. Really people? After holding for 15 minutes to finally speak to somebody I'm told that I cannot pro-actively give notice to cancel 38 days in advance otherwise I'm going to be extorted by Virgin Mobile. How poorly are your processes mapped that you refuse to allow a person to give you a couple of extra days notice? That you do not allow somebody to give notice with an elected effective date? If a client wants to give 30 days notice for cancellation you should be able to facilitate this.
The only reason I wanted to cancel the contract was because of the lack of variety in the phones you offer, but now I'm very, very relieved to be cancelling as your service is apparently non-existent.
