Prepaid Vodacom automatically changed to contract

I received a sms last week Monday from Vodacom " congratulations your contract has been approved, you are now on top up 49 s and your account will be debited with R 49 in 48 hours" I did not apply for such a contract, and I have no clothing accounts whatsoever. My Blackberry is on prepaid with Vodacom. I phoned Vodacom and they advised I should phone the Egdars Group RMCS at 0860332244 and request them to put me back on prepaid. I phoned RMCS every day requesting and until now nothing has happened. Since they automatically put me on contract without me applying, nor having clothing accounts at any clothe store, my blackberry BIS did not work. Saturday I visited Vodacom and they told me that they cannot do anything about it, even if I want to go to another cellphone company I have to get permission from RMCS to keep my number, and that I should go to Edgars to change it back to prepaid. At Edgars they told me that RMCS is useless and I am one of hundreds complaining about it and will just have to wait. I did not wait, instead I went to MTN and just got a new number. This incident is illogical and scary - people can randomly change prepaid to contract without me knowing?!
