Contract cancelled

I had a number with Vodacom that I hardly used 0827225978, but when the contract ended around July, I called in the contact centre and asked them to cancell the contract. The guy I spoke to confirmed the cancellation was done and even offered that I keep the number but I asked him to cancel everything as I already had another Vodacom number. I then never worried bout it. I just received a statement noting that I owe Vodacom R800 . I am totally disgusted by the fact that when I contacted the Contact centre today, everyone told me they had no notes of this cancellation. The Contact centres are created to support the customers and make things easier for us clients to communicate with the SProviders, but clearly the contact centre cannot be relied on. I hv never missed a payment in the 24months that I had this contract for, but now Im required to pay for the service I cancelled! OVER MY DEAD BODY
