Surely you can blacklist a phone

I took out a top up contract for my mother years ago. On Tuesday 22/10 my 78 year old mother was brutally attacked and robbed in her house. She has been paying insurance on her cell for years and has been using the same cell phone for the past 8 years. Now I am told I can't blacklist her phone as we don't have the number on the box. Surely Vodacom can go into her call list and see what phone her calls were made from before 22/10 and blacklist that phone. It can't be that complicated. The sim swop was done on the 22nd and I was hugely impressed at the service I got from the consultant, Nadeem Khan at Bedford, but now the call centre is telling me they can't blacklist. This can't be true, surely. So you want to tell me my mom has been paying insurance on her phone for 10 years and now that she is desperately needing the money to be paid out, Vodacom is letting her down. Come on Vodacom, show us you are the top service provider in the country.
