I have been an Mtn subscriber for over 10 years. My Samsung S 2 was taken in for repairs on the 06-09-13, it was found that the phone had liquid damage and was the returned to maponya mall. I was told that the phone could not be fixed and and if I wanted it fixed I had to pay R5400.00. After much going up and down between HVRCRepairs and Maponya mall I now get told that its actually not repairable and the R5400 is for a new handset. I was provided with account details to pay this money into.
Unfortunately I have no insuarance on this phone. Considering that the phone is still under contract an is over a year old basically this means I have to buy a new phone.
However my issue with this is that this phone is currently worth less than R4000, and I don't understand why I have to pay R5400 to HVRCRepairs why I was not innitial told that the phone was beyond repair and would need to be replaced with a new handset.
I'm really not impressed by this and I can't believe there can be such level of miscommunication between MTN and its employees and ultimately to the customers.
