On the 13th of July i opened a cellphone top-up contract with MTN and received the sony experia go on the 22nd. The top-up package included R100 airtime, 75mb and 25 sms's. I was told that my account would be topped up on the 14th of each month. On September the 14th my account was topped-up and it was added to my existing balance of R84 airtime. Thus, in total i had R184 airtime. This contract being my first i was curious as to whether i could purchase data (megabytes) from my airtime. I researched and found the ussd code to do this and purchased only R10 megabytes to test it out. On Monday morning, after having not phoned anybody since i had recieved my airtime, R174 airtime had just disappeared. Upon contacting the MTN call centre i was told that a minute after my account was topped up all my airtime and megabytes had been used on updates for my phone. In one minute! Five out of seven days a week my phone is connected to wi-fi. My updates are set on manual. The call centre informed me that only on the 14th of october they could tell me what the problem was. In the Blue Route store i was told i would be emailed my account by Saturday the 21st i have still not recieved any info.
