Fast to sell and slow to delive

This has been on-going. Poppy, a very nice lady phoned me and assured me everything will be sorted. Unfortunately it has been a month since I received my new laptop and the modem doesn't work with this laptop. Poppy arranged for me to get a new modem, but it is not working with this laptop. I asked the messenger that brought it to just wait for me to test it, but he refused and said it is not his problem. I've tried the modem with the desktop at work and it works there, but not on this Laptop. Poppy assured me that I will receive 500 MB free to make up for the 1 Gig I had to use to update the laptop when I received it as updates were all behind. I'm using an old autopage modem to connect to the internet. Also the accounts department was going to contact me because they are billing me for a product that I can't use. If you want to sell a product telephonically you need to sort the problem out telephonically. One of the technicians at the vodadom call centre advised me that the modem is not compatible with this Laptop, but no-one else agrees with him, therefore I don't know what to do now...
