Incorrect phone given on upgrade - They won't swop

I went to the Vodacom outlet to get WhatsApp installed on my phone. Michelle told me my phone was not compatible. A salesman (name unknown) upgraded me to a Nokia Asha 203. He said it was a new phone and WhatsApp would soon be available on it. That was on Friday 13th. I discovered on Saturday that the phone model was actually nearly 2 year old and that WhatsApp would never be available on it. I went in on Sunday but the salesman refused to help swop the phone. On Monday I went in and spoke with the manager Anine. She said she would have to refer it to head office. On Tuesday someone from "head office" phoned me and said there was no way I could swop the phone and that was that. I know that if you order online you have seven days to make an exchange. Why this double standard at Vodacom. I know that by the consumer protection act I can hand back the below standard phone and choose one that fits my requirements. Can anyone at Vodacom help me? My husband already lodged a complaint on hello peter but seems to have hit a brick wall at Vodacom. Please help, I need a phone with WhatsApp as I am a tennis coach and at least 50 of my trainees mom's use WhatsApp.
