CELL DEBT COLLECTION IS UNACCEPTABLE

I received a phone call from Pholosa Debt Collectors today (12 September 2014) advising me that Cell C has handed over my account.

I cancelled this contract in June 2009.

I spoke to the Cell C legal department who advised that the reason for my being handed over is that they cancelled the contract and the debit order but the last payment of R128.65 had to be paid in cash.

1. This is the first I hear from anyone regarding the outstanding money.
2. Neither my address nor work number has changed since 2009 and they claim they could not get hold of me
3. In the last 4 years I've not once received an account from Cell C nor have I received a final demand. Which by the way is required (with my signature that I received it) before handing an account over for debt collection.

Cell C, this is unacceptable business practice. The legal consultant from Cell C also advised me that I should pay this as it will affect my credit rating. If I realised there was money outstanding it would have been paid in 2009.

CELL C, this is your mistake, not mine.
