Vodacom rewards is giving false information

I was due for an upgrade last year. I decided not to upgrade with reason waiting for better package. Meanwhile i am using my boyfriends old phone.
A while ago someone from vodacom rewards phoned me. He convinced me that he got a better deal for me that will cost me cheaper.
I asked what was the fine print and he told me there were none. I also asked him if i can still upgrade and he said yes. Never during the conversation he told me that it is a phoneless upgrade that will have effect that i can only upgrade again in 2015. If he would have informed me of this i would never have said yes.
Last week the phone broke that ive been using. On 26 august i went to vodacom so that i can upgrade. The consultant asked me who told me who said i can upgrade. I explained that i was due for upgrade last year. He made a phone call and he found out that the above mentioned phone call was a phoneless upgrade. He explained to me that they are not connected to the rewards program and that he cant help me. He gave me an email address, which doesnt work, and sent me on my way.
I believe this is unfair and should be sorted out that i can upgrade.
I work full time and study part time a phone is important
