On 12 August 2013 at 14:51 I was interrupted by a call from the number 0740652209, a number registered to the Cell C network (my number is also a cell C number). When I answered I was greeted by loud music and an automated voice offering me the chance to win large fortunes or something like that if I pressed 1 and subscribed to their R7.00 per day service. If I wanted to opt out I must press 9. There was no way I was going to press anything.
I am lead to the following conclusion:
1. Cell C must have given them my number, and/or
2. Cell C is allowing this scheme to be operated from their network.
I find being called by a machine highly offensive. This is not to say that any form of cold calling is acceptable, but at least you can tell a human caller to get lost and never call you again.
I have already blocked all 087 numbers, but now it appears that cell C may be using or allowing to be used regular 074 numbers to make these calls, thus circumventing the blocking that they themselves offer as a service.
I want to place on record that I do not want to receive any marketing calls from Cell C, their associates, computer systems, robots, or anyone whatsoever.
