Number not being ported

At 9:30am on 9/7/2013 I visited Cell C Midrand to port my number from MTN to Cell C (MTN prepaid to Cell C prepaid). Received a confirmation SMS @ 9:38am 9/7/2013 - reference 20130709093821CELLC16366. Was told it would take 24 hours to complete.

At 8:39am on 10/7 got a SMS from Cell C - "Welcome to the Cell C Family... Please recharge to activate your account". I inserted my Cell C SIM, went *102*# to recharge.

I discovered at 5pm 10/7 that calls to my number were being diverted to my MTN voicemail! SMSs would only be received when I inserted my MTN SIM. Have had to insert my MTN SIM back into my phone.

Phoned Cell C - reference 3071003216 - to get it sorted out. Cell C porting department was closed. Why doesn't number porting just work? Please help!
