I wanted to do a simswap to change from microsim to a normal phone due to the fact that the phone I was using was faulty. On friday 28/6 I called MTN 173 and I was required to answer security questions but I could not answer all the questions because i was not sure of my responses. Monday 1/7 I called and Tshepo (consultant) told me I should get a new simcard since I had already purchased airtime on the simcard I was using. I then went and got a simcard from the MTN shop at Woodlands shopping centre and was told I should call 173 again. I spoke to Mokone at around 8:30 in the evening and he told me that he was not authorised to do the simswap because the time time i upgrades was less than a month ago and he will escalate the matter to his supervisor and the simswap will be done in the next 2-24 hrs. I just called MTN and the consultant I spoke said the simswap has been cancelled because I provided them with incorrect responses. I have been a prepaid customer and had that MTN # since 2000 and I really cannot afford afford to loose that # because my whole life is centred around that number (0839741658). Why then do we RICA our details and numbers if we have to go through all this?
