I have been with MTN for as long as I owned a cell phone. On Monday the 24/06/2013 I lost a cell phone which I was only able to blacklist a day after cos of MTN technical errors, unfortunately I couldn't block the sim card because MTN don't block prepaid Sims and advised to do a sim swap. Imagine if the phone is in the evening where no shops are open to get a new sim for a sim swap. The phone has been kept on for hours after the incident and it's still used even now, which can only mean the is still using my number and accessing my info, the phone was only blacklist on the 25/06/2013 morning, I don't understand what kind of a service provider MTN is if they can't protect their own customers or is it because I am a prepaid user and not valued as the contract users. I will hold the company MTN liable should anything be done from my sim, prepaid and contract users should be treated equally. When I tried doing a sim swap on the 25/06/2013 around 22:00 the Rica systems were offline so the new sim I bought for a sim swap couldn't be recognised. Am not sure till when is my number going to be used by another person. I don't know y you cant block prepaid like other networks.
