Telkom: Not the ADSL speed I am paying fo

I have been a Telkom Internet customer for the past 8 years. First I had a dial-up connection, then when ADSL was an option I went for that and as soon as a 4 Mb line was availble I subscribed for that. Initially speeds were acceptable. A while back Telkom offered free line upgrades to users who were operating on lines of 1 Mb or less and since then my internet speed has slowed down tremendously. I didn't get offered any upgrade or discount.

Currently I rarely even make 500kb upload or download speeds on a 4 Mb line!

The slow speed is not just today or yesterday, it is consistent. I spend about R12 000 per year with Telkom for a line that is EIGHT times slower than promised. I asked around the neighbourhood it seems it is not just me struggling with the issue. Giving things for free to the disadvantage of premium users just seems bad business to me. In fact from asking around it seems that if I downgrade to a 2 Mb line I will get better speeds than now and I will pay less.

I am paying for your fastest bundle (have been since you have started offering it) either tell me the speed is no longer available or provide what I am paying for.

Not cool, Telkom. not cool at all.
