I received a sms yesterday afternoon stating that Cell C has handed my account over to their Debt Collection Agency due to an outstanding payment.
I took out a 24 month contract with Cell C in 2007 and paid all outstanding balances in 2010 due to financial problems.
I cannot get hold of Cell C to sort this out and had to resort to taking time out of my work day to visit the closest branch to assist me. The lady who assisted me at the branch was very helpful, I spoke to someone in the Legal Department who confirmed that I would receive a letter stating that my account is paid in full before the end of the work day today. I have just called them again as I have still not received this letter.
I can't believe that I have to struggle like this to prove my innocence, when Cell C were in the wrong for handing me over in the first place!
I will NEVER EVER do business with Cell C in the future and will seriously discourage anyone I know from doing business with them either.
To hand you over for an account that is fully paid after 6 years - completely UNACCEPTABLE!!!
