I upgraded from BB to an S3. I do a lot of travelling for work&hence am on full roaming. When I upgraded, I was advised to switch onto relevant wifi's to transact on my phone (i.e. emails mainly) to use the wifi data, rather than using mobile roaming data (which is very costly). I was on a work trip in Turkey for 1 night&used my phone as I usually would i.e. read/respond to work emails. My usual roaming bills are in the region of R2.5-3k for work trips within Africa&Middle East. This is based on an average of 3 days/month in each bill in one of these countries. I received my Dec bill which included the aforesaid 1.5 days in Turkey. I received a bill (acc no: A2918691; inv no.: E544665827; inv date: 20 Nov) of over R4k (i.e. R4 474) of which roaming charges made up R3 058.65. This all seems to be mainly related to data charges. I cannot fathom how these data charges racked up to the above amount when I was mainly using wifi. I seem to now be getting conflicting answers from various MTN people (shop&call centre) on why this is - very frustrating! I need clarity on this matter urgently - i.e. why is my bill so high when I was mainly on existing wifi's in Turkey? How do Igo about this?
