Contract upgraded early, but benefits not loaded

Hi,
In March I contacted Cell C Direct who informed me that my contract would expire in June, but I could upgrade early. I upgraded from a Blackberry to an iPhone 5, and received my cellphone the next day (Many thanks for the efficiency!) The contract was supposed to have 100 free minutes and - I stand to be corrected - 100 MB free, plus an extra 600MB on the special.
I have now received my account and see I have incurred R1000 worth of Internet charges, and that this was happening from the very first day of my contract.
The new contract benefits will only kick in in June, and until then I have an Apple with free BIS which is of NO USE to me. I was not made aware of the fact that upgrading would mean a new phone, but not the benefits of the new, associated contract.
At very minimum, I would have taken out a data bundle! for R149 I would have covered my usage which is now R1000.
I think the upgrade process is not fairly explained, and I would like the charges reversed, and the conditions of the upgrade contract be put in place from the day I agreed to the upgrade.
