Contract sold with wrong information

In the last week of December i was assisted by Zora at Virgin Active who signed me up for gym membership. She did not at any point disclose to me that it was a 12 month contract. She gave me prices that I would be able to afford on the basis that I join Momentum Health in January and link my Virgin Active membership and enjoy those rates immediately. She even told me that she would refund me the discount that i should have qualified for in January as soon as i give her my Momentum member number. in the first week of January I called to link my membership, only to find out that the rates I was told were completely different, & instead of paying around R200 from my 3rd month of membership, I would have to pay about R1000 for the first 6x months of my membership before i could start qualifying for discounts. Needless to say i was not willing to keep this membership as it was not what i had signed up for. When I phoned throuhg to cancel, the lady told me i just had to send a cancellation letter and the notice period was 30days, BUT when i did this i was contacted and informed that i would be liable for almost R6600! I am not willing to be subjected to this & need this contract cancelled
