On 20th January 2014, I was a victim of remote jamming crime in the parking lot of Virgin Active in Morningside. The criminals got away with my cell phone, laptop bag with laptop, camera and a few other small valuable items.
As I was leaving the premises the security at the exit informed me that my car bonnet was open and proceeded to close it for me. I didn't think much about it at the time and was more confused at this stage than anything else. When I got to my office some five minutes later I realized that my cell phone and work bag was missing. I proceeded to report the incident immediately at the Morningside SAPS. I then went back to the gym to report the incident. The staff personnel were helpful and looked surprised at the incident that I was communicating to them. They informed me that someone from the gym or security company will call me that day.
After not hearing from anyone at the gym I reluctantly decided to return to the gym on Thursday 23rd January 2014, to find out why I have not been contacted. The staff apologised and informed me that someone will call me that day. It is two weeks after the incident and still I have not had any response from the gym.
