On 29 Jan I paid R6508 upfront for a 3 year membership at Planet Fitness Plattekloof. However, I soon realised the facilities were not as good as at Virgin Active; and decided to cancel my membership. The contract stated that I could do this, and receive a full refund, by writing to them within 5 business days. I emailed the contact address provided on the contract (on 31 Jan), but received no response. I then took a letter to the club on 4 Feb (still within the 5 business day period). Jabu, a manager, said he would send my details to head office and that I would be refunded at the end of the month. Although not sure why I had to wait a month while Planet Fitness earned interest on my money, I accepted. However, the end of Feb came and went, and I hadn't received a cent. I phoned Jabu, who said he would check with head office. I then got an email from Michelle van Wyk, admin manager at Plattekloof, who said I must send my details and she would forward it to head office. Although by that time head office should already have had my details, I obliged. That was on the 5th of March, and I still haven't heard anything!
