I signed up to join Planet Fitness in Rosebank on 18 Feb 2011 and then decided to cancel my contract. I cancelled well within the cooling off period - which was agreed by Planet Fitness and after MUCH nagging and fighting, they finally agreed to refund me as per an email received from Garry Baloyi on 24 November 2011 where my banking details were requested in order to process a refund. In September of this year - 2013 - I receive an email from Deli Mkhaliphe from Saya Recoveries telling me I owe Planet Fitness thousands of rands and have now been handed over to them to collect the debt. I have not set foot in any Planet Fitness gym since Feb 2011 so was astonished to learn this. I also had never received any accounts at all from them. I emailed Deli all the details of my contract cancellation believing it would settle the matter. No reply so today I email Deli to ensure the contract is cancelled only to learn I am STILL being billed and now owe a whopping R8967.00!!! I am speechless. The statement has me incorrectly living in Lenasia (no street address) so perhaps they have confused my account with someone else? Where do I turn? Of course the staff from 2011 have long since left!
