I have gone through the statement and I see that Planet Fitness has automatically renewed my contract after a 3 year period.
According to section 14 of the Consumer Protection Act it states that:
Should the consumer fail to inform the supplier upon termination of the agreement of his intention to cancel the contract, the contract shall automatically be renewed on a month to month basis.
However, The Act also places an onus on the supplier to notify the consumer of an impending expiry of a fixed-term agreement on no less than 40 business days and not more than 80 business days before its expiration.
With that being said I would like to raise the issue that I was not informed/notified or reminded that this contract will be expiring and that the contract will automatically be renewed, otherwise I would have requested to cancel the contact. at which I was given no option to due to failed notification from supplier.
Please provide feedback on this matter.
