Double Debit From My Bank Account

My wife went to the Gateway store, purchased some items and wanted to pay. They swiped her card and informed her that the transaction was declined. So they swiped again. Two days later I checked my bank account and saw 2 deductions from Accessorize. I printed my bank statement and gave it to the Gateway branch. They promised to phone their Head Office and return the money. A few days later (after no response) my wife went back to gateway to enquire. Now she was told it's not their problem as the money is not in their account. She must go to our bank and ask for a refund!!! It's not my problem. You and your bank made the mistake, please correct it by refunding my money!!! You swiped our debit card twice, your bank asked for payment from my bank twice - and you were paid twice!!! Now tell your bank to reverse one of these payments so that my bank can reverse the amount back into my account. What is so difficult? It's really not my fault - so why must I fix your problem?
