WHAT A HASSLE TO OPEN AN ACCOUNT

I went to Edgars to open up an account. Everything went smooth and the account was opened and approved. When the pre agreement had to be drawn up the problem came in with my Id that is still in my maiden surname. The account was opened up in my married surname as I am married now. The person assisted me adviced that I need to come back on Tuesday 9 April with my marriage certificate in order for them to give me card and to verify my married surname. On Tuesday I went back, the pre agreement were drawn up and signed. The next lady who had to issue my card said my surname is not the same as my Id. As I explained to them again my ID is still in my maiden surname and the new Edgars account in my married surname. She called Customer services and spoke to Johnathan who adviced they can't assist me if my ID is not also in my married surname as this is EDGARS Policy. When my ID is the same as my marriage certificate I can come back.
How is this EDGARS policy as Johnathan at customer service could not answer me? This doesn't make sence as I have house bond and cellphone account in my new married surname with my marriage certificate? Please advice as this is not per the NCA!
