On 22/2/13, I purchased a book from Exclusive Books at Durban King Shaka Airport branch. At the time I was not completely sure I wanted the book. I asked if I could return the book for a refund at any store, and they confirmed that this was possible. The back of the cash slip reads under "Terms of Sale" "Exclusive Books will gladly refund or exchange purchases in perfect condition within 45 days of original purchase, provided you have the till receipt. Refund will be made according to the original method of payment." I paid by credit card.
Today I went to Exclusive Books at Liberty Mall in Pmb to return the book for a refund. They refused to refund me in cash, wanting only to give me gift vouchers. They said that this was because of the fact that I had bought the book at the different store. This is inconsistent with what I was told at the original store, and with the terms of sale on the slip.
I am most surprised that a store of Exclusive's apparent standard that there should so blatantly defy their own conditions of sale. So Exclusive is not so good after all.
Long live the online bookstores: good quality, reliable service, no nonsense! Phansi Exclusive, phansi
