On Saturday the 23rd of Feb 2013, I went into the Truworths Branch at Greenstone Shopping centre, to exchange a dress I had received as a gift for my daughter. As it was a gift, I did not have a recipt, and the dress is 2 sizes too small for her. I have exchanged many gifts at many retail stores in the past, and have never encounted a problem in the past. The dress has never been worn, still has the Truworths tag and price attached, and was in the Truworths packet, the dress was also purchased at the Greenstone branch. So you can imagine my shock and horror at the stores refusal to assist me in exchanging the item for something that would fit. They insisted on a recipt, knowing the item was a gift, they then insisted on a date of purchase again the item was a gift. The person who purchased the item could not remember the date of purchase. I don't see how a company who relise on customers to maintain their business can treat their cusomers with such hostility. As a single mother in the current economic climate in South Africa, it is very difficult to purchase such beautiful and expensive things for my child, so to receive this gift was exciting for her, and now she can never wear it
