I am very disappointed with the Spar in Gordon Road that we support. My mother went on Wednesday to buy some groceries and when she paid for it her cash was refused due to an old note. The cashier questioned the note and the one manegr said it can be taken and the cashier still refused then the head manager refused the note due to "it will not fit in their box". They were rude and had a no care attiutude. There is no notice in hte store that they do not accept old notes and as far as I know all South African money is legal tender except for the R200 that was recalled. Since then we have paid with the money at another store and it was never questioned.
We will NEVER support this Spar again, even if we have to travel further we will.
I hope the owner of this Spar will see this complaint and be aware that by refusing the R250, a lot more money was refused as we were regular customers that spend a lot of money there.
