I purchased a 3/2 division Dark Brown Leather Lounge Suite from UFO Furniture Wynberg in Sept 2005 and paid an amount of R 13 889 (including" Forever Leather" leather protection). This was a Half Price Sale. I placed the order after UFO's assurance that the suite was genuine leather (I would not have bought anything other than genuine leather). The suite was subjected to light use (max once per week) as only my wife and I were at home from September 2005 - August 2012. From August 2012 onward, the suite was used daily thereafter by two adults and in December 2013, wrinkles and holes in the so called "genuine leather" formed. The "leather" came away from the backing and it became apparent that the "genuine leather" was in fact synthetic leatherette.
I took the matter up with Salome of UFO Furniture on 16 January 2014. After two weeks of telephonic and e-mail contact, I was informed today that the Directors would not entertain the matter any further. The fact that I was assured that suite was genuine leather was actually leatherette i.e fake leather was not considered.
I strongly believe that I was conned by UFO Furniture and urge people seeking furniture to avoid UFO totally.
