Claims of an Outstanding payment on a settled acco

My Woolworths credit card account 4103740022852000 was handed to MBD Credit Solution but during July 2012 when I wanted to buy a car my bank refused to finance me because of this. My son-in-law phoned to get the settlement amount with Woolworths (Cape Town). He was told I had to pay R13549-61 which I paid after approaching my employer to assist. Payment was made on the 31 July 2012. Immediately after this payment, MBD Credit Solutions stopped to send me the usual reminders (as they did before) - to me this was an acknowledgement of a settled matter. I was then able to get the financing from the bank 2 days later. Now 16 months later, towards the end of November 2013, MBDCS started again to send me sms-es alleging that I still had R4216-13 outstanding on this credit card account. Although I cannot trace proof of this payment, Woolworths confirmed payment, for the first since I started quering this, on the 24/01/2014. MBDCS insist that I must enter into a payment arrangement whilst Woolworths wont take the blame for having given my son-in-law that amount as settlement figure because they allege it is only MBDCS that can do this. MBDCS has suddenly confirmed this payment.
