Edgars not closing paid off account

On the 27th of September 2012 I went into Edgars at Bayside center in Blouberg Cape Town and paid my account in full. I then requested that my account be closed. In January 2013 when applying for an MTN account I was informed that my credit application had been declined, due to bad credit with Edgars. When calling to find out what was going on I was told by the person on the phone "OH Sorry we forgot! " I now cannot apply for any credit due to them "FORGETTING!!! " I then recieved a letter from Nizaam Allie the Customer Services Admin Agent saying that my credit would be updated but I am still waiting for this to happen... Can Edgars please explain!! And when will my credit be fixed as I can now not open any accounts!!!
