I took my car in to have two new Continental Premium Contact2 tyres fitted in front. I requested that the 'old' front tyres be moved to the rear, as the rear tyres were really worn out. I left the car for about 3 hours while running errands, which I was assured is 'no problem'.
I collected the car about half an hour before closing time and discovered that the invoice was about R500 more than the quote. As I did not originally get a printed quote and had no 'proof', I was prepared to accept that and paid the amount in full.
When I got home (after they had closed at 13:00), I discovered the following:
1. There are no initial or final readings in the alignment report - was wheel alignment done?
2. More seriously, the two original front tyres had NOT been moved to the rear - the old worn-out rear tyres are firmly in place and the newer ones stayed behind in the workshop!
In summary:
Two tyres disappeared - the jobcard indicates that front tyres must be moved to the rear: I can prove in several ways that the above happened.
I paid for four wheels' balancing - not done.
I paid for full wheel alignment - not done as there are no final readings.
This is very SERIOUS - address urgently!
