Rust on my Defy fridge of 3 years old

We bought both a Defy Fridge and Freezer in february 2010. During 2013, we nothiced that there are rust spots on the inside of the fridge. I called Defy, spoke to a Mr Jan van Zyl who advised that I must log a call at their call centre. I could not get through to the call centre but logged a call via the Defy Website.

Got a call from Defy this morning advisng that they will have to collect the fridge, have it inspected at their wharehouse and then advised on the way forward. They also advised that there will be cost of R450 for collection. I was not happy and the lady advised that she will get her manager, Charlie to give me a call. Charlie phoned me during the morning confirming that R450 will be charged for collection. I siad that this is not accaeptable as I paid for a product that is now defective and that I am not prepared to pay the amount as it was not my fault. He advised that this is the policy and they cannot deviate from it.

How convenient? Seems like Defy only manufactures products that last for 2 years as they are not prepared to assist after that. Surely you must judge the situation and not hide behind policies?
