When I opened my Edgars account I requested that I would need retrenchment Insurance on my account as I have been retrenched so many times in my career. I was once again retrenched in August 2013 & went to the branch in Polokwane Mall of the North & they told me what documentation to get for the claim. However when I went to submit the documents I was told that I do not have retrenchment insurance as I last made a payment on my account in December 2012. I receive statements every month & the installment due was R0.00 due to the fact that I paid a large amount on my account & purchased for the same value. So due to the fact that I was not paying the account as there was no payment due Edgars cancelled my retrenchment insurance without any notice or anyone contacting me to inform me. My account is in arrears to date as I am still unemployed & I feel that this is totally unacceptable that the insurance was cancelled without my knowledge or any written communication. The account has been handed over to the collection department.
